Friday, 2-19-16

~ Eagle # 1 left alone for 4 minutes around 11:30 A.M. and for 1 hour around 1:30 P.M.
~ The parents know when the egg is too hot or cold.  So when it is too hot, they will get off of the egg and possibly leave it alone to cool off.  If the egg is cold, they will stay on it.

Momma and dad protecting eggs during the beginning of the rain storm.  The dad is the one standing and you can tell because of the ankle band.

It was very rainy during the day and the eggs were protected the whole time.  This was around 1:15 P.M.

There was a bad rain storm with very high winds (sometimes with wind gusts of 50+ miles per hour) during the night.  Momma stayed on the eggs all night to protect them from the weather elements.  You can see her wings spread out further to keep them dry and warm.  They call this a "mombrella."

The morning after the rain storm (Winter Storm Petros).  You can see how flooded it is under the tree now.
